Apple plans to incorporate iPhone 18 Pro cameras into its Apple TV broadcast of the Los Angeles Dodgers versus the San Francisco Giants this Friday. Apple says it will place more than a dozen iPhone 18 Pro devices around Dodger Stadium to film live gameplay and stadium moments from multiple angles.
According to Apple, the devices are used to capture perspectives that would be difficult to obtain with traditional broadcast cameras due to the iPhones’ small size and ability to fit in tight locations. The coverage is set to include sequences such as batting practice, player introductions, dugout views, and the overall atmosphere around the ballpark.
Outlet reports describe the initiative similarly but differ slightly on specifics: MacRumors cites “more than a dozen” iPhone 18 Pro devices, while AppleInsider reports a total of 14 models. Both note that Apple previously used iPhone cameras for an MLB broadcast, including a past example at Fenway Park. Apple TV’s “Friday Night Baseball” airs as part of a weekly MLB doubleheader for subscribers, with no added charge, and the game starts at 7 p.m. Pacific time on September 18.
