A 54-year-old man, Vincent Saxon, admits trying to rape a woman on a London Underground train, following an attack on the night of 11 July. Prosecutors say Saxon dragged the woman to the floor of a carriage while she was travelling alone on the Bakerloo line between Waterloo and Lambeth North at about 11.40pm.
The woman fights back, and Saxon flees the train when it reaches Elephant & Castle. She alerts station staff, prompting an urgent response. British Transport Police issues an information appeal and releases a CCTV still to help identify the attacker.
At Inner London Crown Court, Saxon pleads guilty to attempted rape. Reporting indicates he is remanded in custody ahead of sentencing, which is listed for 30 October.
