A recall is underway for nearly 195,000 heated blankets after consumer reports of overheating, including instances that cause burn injuries. The recall notice says the blankets may “smoke, melt or burn” when they overheat.
According to reporting from CBS News and The Oregonian, the manufacturer has received hundreds of reports describing overheating behavior, with one source citing 577 reports in total. The Oregonian adds that 53 reports involve burn injuries, while CBS News characterizes the injuries as dozens. The products have been sold through online retailers, including Amazon, and consumers are being directed to return the items.
