Disney is reorganizing its direct-to-consumer streaming leadership. Adam Smith is promoted to chairman of direct-to-consumer for Disney Entertainment, while Joe Earley is assigned a new role outside the core DTC leadership structure. The change follows a prior setup in which Smith and Earley worked as co-presidents of direct-to-consumer within the Disney Entertainment organization.

Multiple outlets report that the restructuring is part of streamlining efforts led by Disney’s president and chief creative officer, Dana Walden. Deadline notes that Smith had served as co-president of direct-to-consumer for about six months, before being named sole leader as chairman. Earley moves to a newly created position focused on television franchise and content strategy, with reporting lines shifting away from the direct-to-consumer operation.
