Police are investigating the alleged rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl in northwest Delhi. According to police, the victim’s body was found on September 13 near an open field by Kushak Road in the Swaroop Nagar area. Officials say the body had decomposed significantly, making it difficult to immediately determine the victim’s gender.
Reports state that police allege four people were involved, including three minors. The girl is said to know at least some of the accused and to have travelled with them in a tempo after meeting a friend; the group allegedly drank together before the assault. Police say the victim was stabbed multiple times and killed, and her body was later dumped in an isolated area where it remained for days before being discovered. One report adds that stray dogs ate parts of the remains. Police identified the adult suspect by multiple aliases and say the investigation includes recovery of alleged items used in the crime and forensic examination, while allegations have yet to be established in court.
