Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike is met with a sharp response from Farouk Aliyu, a former House of Representatives minority leader and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, who accuses Wike of arrogance. Aliyu speaks on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, addressing an ongoing feud involving Wike and APC governors.
Both outlets link Aliyu’s remarks to tensions between Wike and the Progressive Governors’ Forum. The dispute centers on a recent communiqué in which APC governors reject any political arrangement they believe could weaken President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects or other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. Wike responds by criticizing the governors as “politically lazy,” including comments made on Arise Television.
In his rebuttal, Aliyu says political arrogance is harmful and argues APC leaders will not allow Wike to use the APC to build influence that could benefit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While acknowledging Wike’s past contributions, Aliyu asserts the APC will resist what he describes as attempts to interfere in party affairs or introduce divisive tactics tied to Wike’s former party.
