BEML has won a ₹5,400 crore contract from NHSRCL for the supply and maintenance of high-speed rolling stock for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train corridor. Both sources say the order covers 16 high-speed train sets, supported by allied works related to the project.
The contract is presented as building on BEML’s earlier engagement in high-speed rolling stock development and manufacturing. Business Line notes that the award builds on a separate ₹866.87 crore programme BEML has with Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, for two indigenous high-speed trainsets. According to the same source, each of those trainsets includes eight coaches.
While the outlets differ mainly in the emphasis of detail, both link the new NHSRCL award to BEML’s existing work in developing indigenous high-speed train configurations and services. Together, the reporting frames the order as part of the operational rollout effort for the under-construction corridor, covering both delivery and upkeep of trains and associated items.
