A Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate alleges that thugs attacked his supporters during an NDC campaign procession in Effurun, in Delta State. Dr. Obiuwevbi Ominimini, the NDC House of Representatives candidate for the Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency, says the assault occurred during a “1,000,000-Man March for NDC Candidates, 5-over-5” rally and campaign event.
Ominimini accuses Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring or orchestrating the violence, saying the disruption was meant to intimidate NDC members ahead of the 2027 elections. He calls on security agencies to investigate and ensure justice.
Both outlets reporting the incident present the allegation without citing corroborating evidence or statements from other parties. As of the time of reporting, neither the Delta State Government nor the APC has issued an official response to the accusations. Despite the violence, Ominimini says NDC members remain committed to their campaign and urges supporters to stay peaceful.
