Hanuman Ansh co-producer Ragini Sona says the film’s theatrical run was nearly derailed after the release of Yash’s Toxic. Speaking about the period following Toxic’s arrival, she describes the situation as one where the team did not expect to “survive” even a day in theatres opposite the competing release.
According to the reports, Hanuman Ansh began its run by opening across about 350 theatres in its first week. In the second week, its screen count fell sharply to roughly 25–30 theatres after the release of multiple major films, including Toxic and Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2. Despite the reduced visibility, the producers say the film’s business did not fall at the same pace, which encouraged them to consider continuing.
The outlets also report that Sona and director Vishal Chaturvedi made a last-minute decision to keep the film in theatres and sought support from distributors, which they eventually received. She adds that they made a small additional investment based on the expectation that costs would be covered if the release extended by another week. The film is described as having gone on to become a surprise box-office success, earning over Rs 316 crore worldwide by day 43.
