According to multiple outlets, one decoration is organized by members of the Kapu community and uses currency notes worth ₹1.4 crore on a single idol. Another display in the same town is reported to be larger in scope overall, with a second Ganesha idol decorated using notes worth about ₹1.5 crore by a youth group called Team Ekadanta. Organisers in at least one account say local traders contribute funding and that bankers help arrange fresh currency notes.
The outlets frame the event as an unusual but festival-linked display within Telangana’s broader Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, where public pandals and large idol installations are common.
