Two Lord Ganesha idols in Palvancha, Telangana, are decorated with currency notes totaling ₹2.9 crore during Ganesh Chaturthi, drawing large crowds of devotees. Reports describe elaborate installations where the idols are covered in freshly issued notes and become prominent attractions for people visiting the area.
According to multiple outlets, one decoration is organized by members of the Kapu community and uses currency notes worth ₹1.4 crore on a single idol. Another display in the same town is reported to be larger in scope overall, with a second Ganesha idol decorated using notes worth about ₹1.5 crore by a youth group called Team Ekadanta. Organisers in at least one account say local traders contribute funding and that bankers help arrange fresh currency notes.
The outlets frame the event as an unusual but festival-linked display within Telangana’s broader Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, where public pandals and large idol installations are common.
