Union Home Minister Amit Shah is reported to suffer from “food poisoning” during a visit to Karnataka and skips scheduled events in Hubballi and Belagavi, according to senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi. Joshi says Shah is now “perfect” and had been unwell earlier due to vomiting and weakness.

In Hubballi, Shah was scheduled to inaugurate facilities including an academic building and a 1,200-bed hospital at KLE institutions, but he does not attend the earlier event and instead remains at a private hotel on doctors’ advice. Local reporting also says Shah visited the KLE campus later in the evening before departing for Delhi. In Belagavi district, his planned inauguration of the headquarters building of Sri Beereshwara Cooperative Credit Society in Examba, Chikkodi taluk, is cancelled.

The two outlets both attribute the cancellation and changes to Shah’s health, quoting Pralhad Joshi and describing the locations and programmes affected. NDTV focuses on the cancellation of the Belagavi-district inauguration, while the Free Press Journal also details the Hubballi itinerary and the two-event schedule Shah partially misses.
