The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) discusses its approach to the National Sports Governance (NSG) Act at its 95th annual general meeting, with secretary Devajit Saikia saying the board will comply once cricket is officially notified as a designated sport. Saikia’s remarks form the core of the board’s position as it responds to the NSG framework.
Both outlets report that Saikia also addresses the Right to Information (RTI) Act question. He says the BCCI would not fall under RTI, arguing it does not receive government funding and instead pays about ₹3,000 crore in taxes annually. Alongside these governance discussions, the BCCI outlines longer-term event plans, including year-long centenary celebrations starting in December 2027 and leading to its 100th anniversary in December 2028, with additional mention of marking the IPL’s 20th edition in 2027.
