State Bank of India (SBI) issues an advisory to customers ahead of a three-day nationwide strike planned by bank unions from September 28 to September 30, 2026. SBI tells customers to complete branch-related transactions and documentation needs earlier to reduce the risk of delays. The bank says it is arranging to keep essential services operating, though normal branch services may be limited in some locations depending on employee participation.
The strike follows a UFBU nationwide action on September 11 and comes amid a continuing protest programme. SBI notes that services requiring in-person visits, physical documents, verification, or assistance from staff could be affected. With September 26–27 falling on a weekend, some customers may effectively face extended disruption in access to regular weekday branch operations. The bank encourages customers to use alternatives such as ATMs/ADWMs and customer service points for select services, while noting that routine digital channels like internet banking, mobile banking (including YONO) and UPI are expected to remain available.
NDTV adds that the advisory is issued after the earlier September 11 strike and in the lead-up to further planned protest action later in the month, indicating continued uncertainty for branch-dependent services.
