Rufai Oseni says Wike’s disputes with APC governors reflect presidential ambition

Arise Television Morning Show anchor Rufai Oseni has said that Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike is strategically positioning himself for a future presidential bid, linking his current political manoeuvres to long-term ambitions.Oseni made the comments on Monday while analysing the ongoing disagreement between Wike and some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors. He argued that President Bola Tinubu is unlikely to intensify the conflict because of his own interest in securing victory in the next election.“You see, I know this country too well. President Tinubu will never rock the boat. He will just try to give a gloomier response to settle the matter between Wike and the governors because he wants to win an election,” Oseni stated.According to the broadcaster, Tinubu’s measured approach is designed to retain Wike’s support ahead of the polls, even if the president addresses some of the concerns raised by the FCT minister.Oseni maintained that the real political battle involving Wike would unfold after the elections, particularly concerning the future of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He questioned how Wike could rebuild the PDP after allegedly weakening it and backing a faction within the party.“All of this Wike is playing, forget it, he has presidential ambitions. Anyway, he ran in the last election cycle, so all of this is strategically positioning himself for the next eight years when power will come back to the South,” Oseni said.He added that Wike’s age works in his favour for these long-term calculations.
