Indian Oil’s board approves an investment of about ₹2,449 crore to develop the Kochi–Kanyakumari–Thoothukudi natural gas pipeline. The project involves laying, building and operating the pipeline system, with the aim of strengthening gas transportation links across southern India.

The planned pipeline stretches about 424.65 km, running from Kochi in Kerala to Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu and passing through the Kanyakumari region. All outlets cite the pipeline’s transportation capacity of 6.84 million standard cubic metres per day, along with the role the network can play in moving gas to industrial and consumption centres.

One outlet specifies that the investment amount cleared is ₹2,448.70 crore and that the approval comes via an exchange disclosure made after a board meeting on September 21, 2026. It also notes that at least 1.71 million standard cubic metres per day is reserved as common carrier capacity for eligible third parties. Other reporting focuses mainly on the investment figure and the pipeline’s purpose, and does not provide additional scheduling or financing details.
