Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 owners report that their watches reboot unexpectedly, sometimes during normal use. Multiple users say the device displays the Apple logo and restarts while handling tasks such as using Siri, editing watch faces, opening Maps or the App Store, making phone calls, and recording workouts. Some reports also describe reboots occurring when the watch appears idle.
MacRumors notes that diagnostic “panic-full” logs point to the Apple Neural Engine. In these cases, the Neural Engine appears to time out or hang briefly before a watchdog mechanism triggers a kernel panic and forces a restart. The issue reportedly occurs on both the initial watchOS 27.0 build and the day-one update installed during setup, including cases where users erase the watch and set it up as new. One replacement unit is also said to show the same Neural Engine panic.
Other outlets describe similar reports appearing across community platforms. TechGenyz says the reports are spreading across forums, Reddit, and Apple Support Communities, while cautioning that the number of posts should not be treated as a measure of how widespread the problem is. Apple has not publicly acknowledged the issue in the reports reviewed.
