India sees a sharp increase in electronics exports, with reported growth of around 40% as more electronic goods produced domestically are shipped abroad. The surge is described as being linked to the scaling up of India’s electronics manufacturing and greater ability to sell finished products in external markets.
The reports also highlight the role of China in India’s supply chains and trade flows. India imports substantial volumes of goods from China, including electronics-related components, with Chinese imports cited at $131.6 billion in the year ended March, representing close to 17% of India’s total imports. Against that backdrop, outlets frame the export growth as occurring alongside continued import reliance, suggesting a shift toward local value addition while upstream inputs still come largely from abroad. Different coverage emphasizes either the export-side expansion or the import context, but the broad picture is that India’s electronics sector is growing even as trade with China remains significant.
