The Nigerian Navy says a recruitment notice circulating on social media that claims to announce a 2026 “Batch 39” enlistment exercise is fake. The service is urging the public to ignore the viral information and verify any recruitment claims only through official channels.
The Navy’s Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, says the circulating post is not an authorised publication and should not be treated as an official announcement. He advises prospective applicants to be cautious with recruitment information sourced from unofficial social media accounts, websites, or other unauthorised platforms.
Across the reports, the Navy also stresses that official details—including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and categories—will be communicated only through authorised Navy communication. It points people to its official recruitment-related website and the Navy’s main site, and warns that recruitment is free of charge. The Navy further cautions that it does not authorise third parties to recruit applicants or collect fees on its behalf.
