Lagos State’s health commissioner dismisses an online claim that Alimosho General Hospital’s dialysis centre has only one working machine. Professor Akin Abayomi says the centre currently has eight operational dialysis machines—six for general dialysis patients and two reserved for people living with HIV.
Premium Times reports that the disputed statement originated from a video posted on 17 September by Nigerian skit maker and social media influencer Akewusola Oladipupo, known online as MC Always. After the claim spread, the Lagos State Ministry of Health publicly challenged it, presenting the number of machines it says are in service and the allocation between patient groups.
While the online video frames the situation as a major shortage, the government response emphasizes that multiple machines are functioning at the facility and describes how they are used.
