350-kg sugar-free modak offered to 42-ft Ganesh idol at Sakinakyacha Maharaja

Sakinakyacha Maharaja in Andheri East received a 350kg sugar-free modak, claimed to be India’s largest, on Monday. Created by chef Harsh Kedia, the 4.5ft-tall modak was later distributed among devotees as prasad. The mandal’s over-42ft idol has also been recognised by a local record book as Mumbai’s tallest Ganesh idol of 2026.

The modak was transported and installed at the mandal with appropriate food-safety and handling measures.
