APC and APGA are publicly disagreeing over whether there is a genuine political alliance in Anambra State ahead of the 2027 general elections. The dispute centres on Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s message of “progressives working together” and how it is being interpreted within the state’s opposition and ruling-party dynamics.
APC leaders reject the idea that APGA’s participation amounts to a sincere alliance. At a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, APC Deputy National Chairman (South) Ben Nwoye describes APGA’s slogan as misleading, saying it is meant to deceive the President and APC supporters. APC senatorial candidate Uche Ekwunife also urges voters not to be “deceived,” linking support for APC to enabling President Bola Tinubu to complete projects in the South-East.
APGA, meanwhile, maintains that cooperation with APC and support for Tinubu are proof of its commitment to the “progressives working together” position. APGA spokesman Ejimofor Opara argues that adopting Tinubu as APGA’s presidential candidate demonstrates sincerity, while APGA says it will work with Tinubu for 2027 without abandoning its party identity. The accounts reflect rising political tension between the two parties as they seek influence in Anambra.
