Nashik police, through a Special Investigation Team, file the first 1,500-page charge sheet before the sessions court in the “TCS Nashik conversion” case. The case is registered at the Deolali Camp police station and concerns allegations of sexual harassment and exploitation linked to religious conversion.
The charge sheet is filed against four accused: Danish Ejaz Sheikh, Tausif Bilal Attar, Nida Ejaz Khan and Matin Majid Patel. Police say Matin Patel, described as a corporator of AIMIM, is accused of harbouring Nida Khan at his house in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar when she was absconding. Reporting also notes that police have arrested eight persons across nine FIRs connected to the matter.
The charge sheet invokes multiple provisions under India’s Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to criminal conspiracy, rape, sexual intercourse by a person in authority, sexual intercourse by deceitful means, abetment, sexual harassment, cheating, hurting religious feelings, and harbouring an offender.
