The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it does not trust Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to protect its votes in the 2027 general elections. Party officials, including the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, make the claim during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Abdullahi says the party is making independent arrangements to collate and verify its votes. He points to past election experiences, arguing that INEC’s technology failed to deliver results as expected in earlier contests. In particular, he recalls the 2023 senatorial bid, where he says candidates were assured of automatic transmission to the IReV portal, but INEC later cited technical glitches that prevented transmission.
Across the reports, ADC’s stance centers on vote security and transparency. The party says it will vigilantly guard its votes and is willing to accept results only if they match polling unit outcomes, while refusing outcomes it believes do not reflect actual votes cast.
