Kingfisher, the owner of B&Q and Screwfix, raises its full-year profit guidance after reporting a near-10% increase in first-half profits. For the six months ended 31 July, the company reports adjusted (or underlying) pre-tax profit of £404 million, up 9.9% year on year.

The results show modest growth in group sales, which edge up to £6.86 billion, with like-for-like performance also improving. One outlet links the forecast increase to stronger Screwfix sales, while noting that B&Q faces tougher trading conditions. The outlets broadly agree on the profit figure and the guidance upgrade, but emphasize different drivers behind the improvement—one highlights the overall profit uplift, while another focuses more directly on the contribution from Screwfix amid weaker B&Q performance.
