The African Futures Institute (AFI) opens a new headquarters in Accra, Ghana, converting a former tile warehouse into a permanent base. The project keeps the existing industrial structure while adding spaces designed for the institute’s work.
According to reports, the new facility in Accra’s Osu neighbourhood supports architectural education and research, along with exhibitions and public-facing programmes. The redesigned interior includes areas for teaching, workshops, performances, screenings, and gatherings, positioning the building as a venue for events and encounters tied to AFI’s ideas and research agenda.
Both outlets describe the move as a shift from temporary and partnership-based activity to a fixed home for the institute.
