Aliko Dangote hires Engineers India to support construction of a new crude processing refinery in Kenya. Bloomberg reports the engineers are drawn from the team that built Dangote’s Lagos refinery and that work is set to begin this month. The project is part of Dangote’s plans to develop a large-scale greenfield refining and petrochemical operation.
NDTV adds further details on the contracting arrangement, saying Engineers India signs a $450 million deal to oversee construction of the planned facility. The refinery and petrochemical plant are described as being located in Lamu, a coastal town in Kenya, and the planned capacity is reported as 700,000 barrels per day.
