Nigerian influencer Sophia Momodu says she experienced emotional and psychological abuse after becoming pregnant out of wedlock for singer Davido. Speaking at a United Nations General Assembly event in New York on Monday, she says she was mocked because she is the daughter of a pastor, and that the situation drained her and affected her ability to speak publicly.
Momodu says she felt pushed to remain silent for a long time, describing the criticism as something she had to endure despite being well known. She adds that the trauma contributed to her “losing her voice” for a period, and that she later found her voice after repeatedly being encouraged to speak and not keep her story hidden.
