The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) accuses Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of victimising local government workers over alleged political affiliations. In statements carried by multiple outlets, the party says the Osun State Local Government Service Commission set up a committee to investigate council staff suspected of supporting the opposition following the August 15 governorship election.
APC alleges that the committee, led by Tunji Adeleke Jnr—described as the governor’s nephew and head of the commission—summons workers for disciplinary panels. The party claims workers’ phones are searched for communications with APC members and that banking transactions, including those involving UBA, are scrutinised as part of an investigation into local government funds. It also says some workers are threatened with dismissal or suspension, while others have salary accounts deactivated.
The APC warns the administration to restore affected accounts and disband what it calls an “obnoxious committee.” The articles note the allegations relate to an ongoing dispute over control of Osun’s 30 local government councils. As of the time of reporting, the state government had not responded to the claims via its spokesperson.
