Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian tells world leaders at the United Nations that Tehran will not surrender in a war with the United States, while saying Iran believes diplomacy can help end any conflict. The remarks come as Pezeshkian addresses the UN General Assembly during the annual gathering.
Reuters reports that the U.S. delegation walks out at the start of his speech, and that the U.S. mission does not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Hindu similarly says the U.S. delegation leaves when he begins speaking. In the speech, The Hindu adds that Pezeshkian holds up photos of the late Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and of more than 150 schoolchildren killed in the early days of the war.
