Disney is raising prices for Disney+ and Hulu in another step of what multiple outlets describe as “streamflation.” Reported increases take effect in late September, with the largest jumps targeted at ad-free tiers. Variety, 9to5Google, Deadline, and AppleInsider all report higher monthly costs for Premium (no-ads) subscriptions, with Post similarly noting an ad-free Disney+ increase of about 13%.
According to the reports, Disney+ Premium rises from $18.99 to $21.49 per month. AppleInsider and Deadline also indicate similar increases for Hulu Premium, and that ad-supported pricing is either smaller or unchanged for certain bundles. AppleInsider adds that subscribers could begin receiving notifications as early as Wednesday and says customers who use the ad-supported Disney+/Hulu bundle will see no change.
Across outlets, the emphasis differs: Variety and Deadline frame the change as part of Disney’s broader pricing strategy, including making bundles comparatively more attractive. 9to5Google highlights the rollout of new plan pricing, while AppleInsider focuses on which tiers and bundles change and the timing of customer notifications.
