New Zealand’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) says China is the country’s most persistent and capable state-backed cyber threat. The agency says it has identified cyber activity suspected to originate from foreign state actors that places sensitive information in New Zealand at risk.
The NCSC says foreign targeting is directed at New Zealand government agencies and organisations, including those in sectors such as health, education, and information technology. Reporting also characterizes the activity as espionage involving efforts to compromise or infiltrate key infrastructure networks.
