A lorikeet-sized nankeen kestrel named Sparrow is missing from a wildlife sanctuary in Brisbane after flying away during a free flight training session, according to multiple outlets.
The bird is native to south-east Queensland. Reports say Sparrow was taking part in a training activity designed to allow the kestrel to fly in an open setting, during which it escaped and has not been recovered.
