Afenifere official Sola Ebiseni defects to APC, backs Tinubu’s 2027 re-election

Sola Ebiseni, former South-West Coordinator of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 elections, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.Ebiseni, who also serves as Secretary-General of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere, announced his decision during a visit to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the Government House in Akure on Thursday.He revealed that he and his supporters had already been integrated into the APC campaign structure ahead of the polls. “I can assure you that I am just the forerunner for a group of Nigerians who have quietly moved across the six geopolitical zones in the last year. We have also engaged with political gladiators in the process,” he said.Governor Aiyedatiwa welcomed Ebiseni’s defection, describing his political experience and influence in Ondo State and Afenifere as valuable assets to Tinubu’s re-election campaign. “Chief Ebiseni’s position as Secretary-General of Afenifere and his activities in other sociocultural organisations are an added advantage to the tasks ahead,” the governor said.Ebiseni explained that his decision was driven by national interest, particularly in the area of security. He argued that supporting Tinubu’s second-term bid would strengthen Nigeria’s new security architecture rather than risk “experimenting with a new design.”He added that the group’s findings, which informed their support for Tinubu, would be made public soon.Ebiseni emphasized that his defection was not just about politics but about building continuity and stability, pledging to work with APC leaders and his supporters across Ondo State to advance the campaign.
