The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrests Abhishek Kumar, described by the agency as a “kingpin” in the Mahadev betting app case, after his arrival from Dubai. Multiple outlets report the arrest takes place at an airport as he returns to India.
CBI says its investigation so far finds Kumar plays an active role in running online betting and gambling operations associated with “Mahadev Book,” including involvement in fund collection. The agency also alleges proceeds linked to the betting and gambling business are used to acquire immovable assets in Dubai.
After the arrest, Kumar is taken to Raipur and produced before a court there, which grants two days of police custody, according to a spokesperson cited by one outlet. Other reports focus on the arrest details upon his return, including his movement toward Hyderabad, without adding additional procedural information.
