China installs the majority of new industrial robots, according to data from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR). In 2024, China deploys about 295,000 units (reported as 295,000), while the global total reaches 524,000. The new deployments take the worldwide number of industrial robots in operation to about 4.46 million, up 9% year-on-year.
In the IFR’s later reporting for 2025, additional figures show China’s share remains dominant. Around 603,000 industrial robots are installed globally in 2025, up 11% from the prior year, with China accounting for about 354,000 units—roughly 59% of the total. One outlet also notes that installations in the European Union fall by 11%, contrasting with China’s growth. Another outlet emphasizes China’s scale in 2024, stating it installs more than all other markets combined.
Across the sources, the core point is consistent: China is the largest destination for industrial robot deployments, and its installed volume is markedly higher than other major regions, while global adoption continues to rise.
