According to reports, last week the five major North American men’s professional sports leagues and their unions sent a letter asking state regulators to address increased harassment faced by players and staff. In that original correspondence, the WNBA and NWSL were notably absent, drawing public backlash. Some of the criticism specifically targeted the NBA for not including its partner women’s league.
In the latest development, a follow-up letter is sent roughly 10 days after the first, bringing the WNBA into the group. The amended letter is described as coming from the NBA and WNBA, their unions, and the referees and coaches association to state gaming regulators, as reported by multiple outlets.
