Armed Fantasia: To the End of the Wilderness, a JRPG pitched as a spiritual successor to the PS2-era Wild Arms series, is cancelled. 505 Games and its parent company Digital Bros announce in a financial statement that they discontinue development of the project, along with other titles.
The decision comes after years of delays following a Kickstarter campaign and later disputes involving the project. Outlets also note that the game is led by former Wild Arms producer Akifumi Kaneko and has been in development for roughly four years since the campaign period. Push Square adds that the project had also been rejected by Sony earlier in its development history, though the cancellation announcement attributes the outcome to the companies’ decision to stop development after attempts to revise gameplay.
Both reports agree on the cancellation and point to Digital Bros’ financial reporting as the direct source of the news. They differ mainly on emphasis: one stresses the long-running development troubles and broader controversies, while the other frames the cancellation in terms of publisher actions and earlier platform rejection.
