Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain and presidential figure Buba Galadima says he expects NDC’s 2027 candidate, Peter Obi, to win a “free, fair and transparent” election. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Galadima also says Obi’s running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, will help deliver the result under a transparent process.
Galadima alleges that President Bola Tinubu could attempt to declare himself the winner if “machinery of government” is used, even suggesting this could happen after meetings involving the INEC chairman and prominent Nigerians in France. He cites a recent national poll organised by one of the presidential candidates, claiming Obi and Kwankwaso lead in four of six geopolitical zones (North Central, Southeast, South-South and Southwest), while Tinubu is placed third and has no zone.
He further warns INEC against involving 600 professors who recently endorsed Tinubu in Kaduna, arguing their participation would amount to preparation for electoral fraud because they are said to have taken sides. The outlets report the same core claims, focusing either more on Galadima’s prediction or on the alleged conditions under which Tinubu might declare victory.
