President Cyril Ramaphosa orders the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) to widen its investigation into the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport. The probe now covers additional allegations relating to road matters, public transport, and contract-related issues, alongside earlier areas of concern.
The investigation focuses on alleged corruption and maladministration within the department’s tendering and contracting processes. By expanding the scope, the SIU is tasked with examining a broader set of conduct and procurement-related decisions, including how contracts are awarded and managed, and whether rules and procedures are followed.
