Manchester City are reported to have been found guilty on 114 of 115 Premier League charges relating to alleged breaches of the league’s financial rules. Multiple outlets say the independent panel overseeing the case has reached a verdict after a lengthy investigation and a hearing process referred to it in February 2023.
The charges cover conduct over a nine-year period from 2009 to 2018. They reportedly include allegations about failing to provide accurate and up-to-date financial information and reports relating to player and manager compensation, as well as non-compliance with UEFA financial regulations and breaches of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules during parts of the period. Several outlets also report allegations of failure to cooperate with Premier League investigations from 2018 to 2023.
While outlets broadly agree on the near-total guilty outcome, coverage differs slightly in emphasis and figures cited (some state “114 of 115,” others “all but one”). All also note that the Premier League has not yet decided on sanctions, and that Manchester City is expected to appeal.
