Ubisoft’s long-awaited sequel Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development, according to a Ubisoft Bordeaux developer posting recent involvement with the project. The update comes after nearly two decades since the game was first announced in 2008 and years since it was repeatedly re-shown or discussed by Ubisoft.
Rik Godwin, a lead writer and associate narrative director at Ubisoft Bordeaux, says he has been working on the game in a support/consultant role for “the past few months,” adding that he is permitted to share the information. The reports describe this as a small but concrete sign of continued activity despite “development hell.”
Across outlets, the context is broadly the same: Ubisoft Montpellier is cited as leading development, while Ubisoft Bordeaux typically contributes support. Both sources note the lack of a release date and point to prior low-profile hints from Ubisoft, including posts in late 2025 and early 2026. The differing emphasis is mainly on tone—one article frames the update as surprising and noteworthy, while the other focuses on the specifics of the developer’s post—but neither provides new gameplay or an announced timetable.
