US television networks resume live coverage of President Donald Trump’s White House events as an ongoing court fight continues over the administration’s decision to bar CNN, MS Now and Politico from the presidential grounds. Coverage resumes after a period of restrictions that limited which outlets could access the White House television press pool.
On Friday, the White House television press pool broadcasts footage of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s arrival at the White House for tea, along with scenes showing Trump and Xi touring the National Archives. The Archives, where the US Constitution is housed, feature in the pooled video as both leaders move through the facility.
Outlets also note that Trump publicly praises what he describes as “fair” coverage related to Xi’s visit. Reporting focuses on both the return of major networks to the White House video pool and the legal dispute that frames the access and broadcast decisions.
