According to Adeniran, the dispute centres on how the APC is interpreting or “twisting” a Supreme Court judgment. Both outlets frame the matter as an internal party contest over legal eligibility ahead of the 2027 vote, with Adeniran arguing that the court decision supports Obasanjo’s candidacy. Vanguard and Daily Post Nigeria present the accusation as coming from the same PDP figure and refer to similar claims about alleged misuse of the Supreme Court ruling.
