Four youths die and three others are injured after an electrocution incident inside a Ganesh pandal in Hirapur village, under the Nainpur area of Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday morning. The victims were reportedly sleeping in the pandal as members of the festival committee guarded items and materials after the Ganesh idol immersion.
According to officials cited by one outlet, a power line allegedly snaps and falls on people in the pandal, while another account reports a preliminary finding that a short circuit caused the live cable to snap and electrocute the victims. The ganesh pandal is described as a permanent structure. The injured, including one named Priyanshu, receive treatment for burns, with one reported to be critical and referred for further care.
Electricity department teams investigate the cause, including whether a snapped external power line struck the pandal or whether an internal short circuit triggered the failure. Authorities have not issued a final determination on the exact mechanism of the accident, according to the reports.
