The Minister of Works, David Umahi, says some people plan to “gag” him on social media over road projects in Nigeria’s South-East. He raises the allegation as he rejects claims that he has “cornered” federal road projects for the region.
Umahi makes the remarks during an inspection connected to the Trans-Sahara Highway. The route begins from Afikpo in Ebonyi State, passes through parts of Benue, Kogi and other areas including Nsukka, and ends at Owete Bridge in the Federal Capital Territory. He says projects are publicly documented and argues that the President oversees his work, questioning how he could corner projects when the President remains responsible.
