Apple’s upcoming iPhone Duo is expected to include a redesigned StandBy mode that works even when the iPhone isn’t charging, with additional options beyond what Apple has publicly shown. Multiple outlets report that a developer using Apple’s iOS 27.1/Xcode 27.1 environment has found evidence of more StandBy faces and interface controls than described in Apple’s earlier materials.
Both sources point to work by the developer pdfu, who says the iOS 27.1 simulator is missing “Rushmore,” the component that hosts the redesigned StandBy faces. Even so, the developer reportedly managed to run several newly discovered faces and identified additional localization strings indicating other options. Reported faces include a Home Camera variant (single feed or a multi-camera grid), a Home Modular view, a Snoopy-themed option, and additional named faces such as Flow and Fade. Apple has also shown some StandBy faces already, including Analog, Digital, Classic Calendar, Weather, Photos, Memories, Shared Albums, and Modular.
The outlets also describe a face editor for styling and color adjustments and mention multiple widget-capable clock layouts (StandBy, Stacked, Top, Middle, Bottom). Pre-orders are reported to begin October 16, ahead of an October 23 launch, with more details expected closer to release.
