Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) is seeking approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for a fresh refund scheme totaling about P2.64 billion for its customers. The proposed return relates to a lapsed period covering January to June of this year, based on a revised calculation submitted to the regulator.
Meralco says the refund will cover more than eight million customers, with the amount translated into customer-level refunds averaging a specific figure as reflected in its filings. The two outlets report the same overall refund amount and that ERC approval is being sought following the company’s updated computation for the January–June period.
While both sources focus on the ERC filing and the refund size, their coverage differs mainly in emphasis: one headline highlights the “ERC nod” and the refund scheme wording, while the other frames it as seeking “okay for fresh” refunds after the revised lapsed-period calculation.
