A U.S. advocacy firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, calls on the Trump administration to publish the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Nigeria on critical minerals. In posts on its verified X account, the group says the disclosure would address public allegations of corruption and promote transparency around the agreement.
According to reports cited by the outlets, the MoU is described as a framework agreement covering activities such as geological data sharing, mineral exploration and development, processing, infrastructure, and technical capacity. The firm also argues that transparency would help reassure lawmakers, as Democratic legislators prepare to scrutinise mineral deals tied to the Trump administration. Both sources link the request to broader concerns raised publicly, including accusations of “pay-to-play” arrangements and human-rights worries in Nigeria’s mining sector, including reports involving suspected illegal miners who died in custody in Niger State.
