Oyo State’s Judicial Commission of Inquiry, investigating the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, is expected to present its findings on Tuesday. The state Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, says Governor Seyi Makinde will formally receive the report at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan, with the event scheduled for 12 noon and attended by top government officials, security chiefs, religious leaders, labour representatives, and other stakeholders.
According to the accounts provided, the commission was inaugurated on July 31, 2026, after bandits attacked three schools in Esinele and Yawota communities—Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School—on May 15, 2026. The attack resulted in the abduction of 39 pupils and seven teachers, who were reportedly held for 56 days in Old Oyo National Park before their release on July 10, 2026. Two teachers—Michael Oyedokun and Adesiyan Adegboye—died during the incident.
