The club gives Gilardino a contract running until the end of the season. Parma also includes an option to extend the agreement for an additional two seasons, according to the announcement reported by outlets. Gilardino is known for his playing career, including winning the 2006 World Cup with Italy, and the appointment marks a new coaching direction as Parma prepares for the immediate challenge in Serie A.
